The Map of IGD12 Participating Libraries

Posted on August 24, 2012

Here's the current map of IGD12 participating libraries. We've already got more than 1,000 libraries signed up, and the increased international interest is easy to spot.

Note that this map is current as of October 21, 2012. We'll do one last update on November 1.

  1. Will you be noting libraries where the programs are not occurring on the official day? Previously, you encouraged those of us who planned programs for Nov 10 to register our programs. It could be misleading to patrons if there is no note indicating that our library’s programs are on a different date. If you will not note, is there a way to have our programs removed from the map?

FYI: emails sent to Contact Us are not being answered.

  2. Hi, programming librarian –

Unfortunately, the map is generated automatically from the contact data, so we have no way to call out libraries holding events on different days. We link to the library’s website in the hope that you’ll post information about your Games Day there.

We can certainly remove your library from appearing on the map if you’d like. Please send me an email at jlevine [at] ala.org if you’d like us to do that.

I originally replied with this same info to your “contact us” message – maybe it went in a spam folder? Sorry for the confusion.

  3. In Norfolk, VA the entire city will be introduced to chess by scores of community volunteers, including military chess players, on National Game Day. As a result of the decision, angels from Texas, Florida and the U.K. have sent free tournament boards and sets as gifts to remain permanently with the branches. So far we have enough to give 7 sets to each and every branch to keep! If any library wishes to make chess it’s official game next year or this, let us know and we will help you get free equipment for FREE too.

  4. GameTable Online and RPG Table Online will be opening its gaming doors for free gaming for the entire weekend of International Games Day (November 3 and 4). http://www.gametableonline.com offers online versions of 28 different board games and http://www.rpgtableonline.com is a virtual tabletop application for playing role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons via the internet.

To participate in player-vs-player games, requires only that users be 13+ and have an active email address to register and get in the fun. Registration is not required to play against computer opponents at http://www.gametableonline.com/index.php.

  5. Why the Romanian Libray from Filiasi is not on the map?

    • Hi, Dorina –

I”m not sure why there’s no marker on the map, but your library is definitely listed. Type your library’s name or city into the search box and it does display.

      We’re thrilled you’re participating!
