Keep Registering!

Posted on October 16, 2009

Libraries across the country are still registering to get on the national map of participating locations, and the form will remain open through Friday, November 13.

If you're at a U.S. public library, you should be receiving three games from Hasbro through their very pretty amazing donation. More details are available in the press release, but watch for one copy each of Monopoly Deal, Pictureka! the card game, and Scrabble Slam. We'll post more information about this as we get it.

We'll be updating the national map again soon, so get your location listed now. It's important you be on there if you're participating, because that's where we point the public and reporters.

National Brawl!

Posted on October 9, 2009

The Ann Arbor District Library is again hosting tournaments powered by gtsystem to celebrate National Gaming Day! There are three national events: a Rock Band (any version) high score contest, a Smash Bros. Brawl bracket on 11/14 starting at 3 PM EST, and a Mario Kart Wii bracket for All Ages on Sunday 11/15, starting at 3 PM EST! Participants from last year found their players pumped up about the library and leveled up their community engagement!

To participate, find info at or contact with questions! It's easy to get started with interlibrary play; take the next step on National Gaming Day and make it happen for your patrons!

PR Toolkit, Poster, and National Map Now Available

Posted on October 6, 2009

There are less than 300 free games still available, so if your library hasn't registered yet, go do it now! This offer will only be good for a couple more weeks, because the game publishers need time to ship the games to you before November 14.

More than 830 libraries have already signed up to participate, giving us our first version of the national map.

Hopefully you're starting to plan your preparations for the day, and we can help with that, too. The NGD2009 Press Toolkit is now available online, as is this amazing poster that was created by ALA member Liz Danforth. All of these materials are free for you to download and use for promotional purposes.

It's time!

Librarians - you can now register for NGD2009! This will put your location(s) on the national map and allow you to request free donations if you're one of the first 1,000 libraries to sign up. Hurry and register now - academic and school libraries, this includes you, as well as public libraries!

We'll be closing registration in mid-October in order to get the games shipped to you, so don't procrastinate. Sign up each of your branches separately if you want each one to receive its own game.
