National Video Game Tournament Details

• Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament
• 30th Anniversary Frogger High Score Tournament

GREETINGS PEOPLE OF SMASH!

This online, SUPER AMAZING tournament will begin at 1:00 PM EST on Saturday, November 12, 2011. Finals will begin at 3:00 PM EST and the event will complete by 5:00 PM EST.

To join this tournament, you need:

1. A Wii, 2 controllers, a screen, and a BRAWL disc;
2. A BRAWL-tested wifi or wired internet connection for the Wii and BRAWL friend code;
3. A gtsystem site ( like http://aadl.gtsystem.org ) for your library

Then, on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2011, starting at 1:00 PM EST / 10:00 AM PST, get your Wii online, connect to other libraries, and play 2-player matches against other libraries, recording your score in your gtsystem event.

Once you've got your equipment and your Wii has a working internet connection, contact us at gtsystem [at] aadl.org to set up a brawl test! If you don't test your connection in an actual brawl match, it probably won't work on game day!

After you've tested your BRAWL connection, add your library and your friend code to the list at http://wiki.gtsystem.org/national_smash_4 ! Be sure not to leave this to the last minute to avoid missing inclusion on other libraries friends rosters!

1. What you'd like your site code to be (like AADL or DPL or whatever abbreviation you tend to use).
2. The full name of your library or library system, and we'll mail you a moderator login for your new site.
3. Let us know if you're not sure if you have a gtsystem site too, and we can check.  Or check the partner list at http://gtsystem.org/partners.

This event has been growing every year and it looks like we could hit 64 active participants this year!  This is a really special event for your patrons and it turns routine gaming programs into thrilling sources of local pride! HOLY CRAP FROGGER IS 30 YEARS OLD!

WHAT DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE?

First, you need some copy of the Arcade Classic Frogger. Frogger has been built into many different Frogger sequels over the years. There is also a Frogger for Xbox and Frogger Returns for Playstation Network or as WiiWare.

Or, if you're hardcore, you can run the original frogger ROM on MAME.

Barring those, there is also Happy Hopper which is a pretty authentic web version with traditional scoring. That will do in a pinch!

Then, you need a gtsystem account to enter your scores. Full directions on how to enter your scores will come as we get closer, but it's easy and fast once you have your own gtsystem site for your library or library system.
