More than 1,800 libraries to celebrate National Gaming Day on Nov. 13

The latest map of 1,800+ participating locations includes libraries from every state in the U.S., as well as in Argentina, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Pakistan and Puerto Rico. Organizers expect to easily break last year’s record of more than 31,000 people playing games on the same day.

Libraries will offer a variety of activities throughout the day, including modern board games, traditional games (such as chess and checkers) and two national video game tournaments that will pit players at dozens of libraries against each other for bragging rights to the ultimate Rock Band and Super Smash Bros. The Librarian’s Guide to Gaming: An Online Toolkit for Building Gaming @ your library offers content contributed by expert gaming librarians across the country. The toolkit includes a wide range of resources to help librarians create, fund and evaluate gaming experiences in the library. Read more
